A show team who loves the breed and not just the winning.
Hello, the show dogs of Zaandam have been a great hobby for myself, Amy Black, and my Gran, Be Black, for over 35 years. We are based in Scotland where we participate in most of the shows, although, we have lately been trying to travel further down South. We have been showing Pomeranians for a roughly 10 years and have had much great fun and enjoyment with them. It has only been within the recent years which we have expanded our show team to include Japanese Shiba Inu's, but despite only being in the breed for a few years we have been very lucky and are very grateful for the beautiful girls and boys we have bought in.
As you go through our website, you will see on each breed homepage an update on our most recent dog shows. You can also see beyond the breed homepage, that we have a page dedicated to each member of our show team. Our team is rather large in doggy form, but there are only two of us who do all the cleaning, grooming, cuddling and showing. Due to this, it can sometimes be difficult to have every one of our team with us at all shows, hence why you may see that some are not present, but we do try to give everybody a turn.
As for myself, Amy, I am now a trainee solicitor in Dundee having spent 5 years at University. My working days can be very demanding with long hours in the office or travelling around for Court, however, I do try my hardest at helping out with the dogs, and not just take all the fun parts of showing. However, because I'm not always available, I would just like to say Thank You to my Gran, Be, for allowing me to have such a fantastic hobby. My Gran has involved me with dogs ever since a tiny little thing and I have been showing dogs since around the age of 7 years. I am very grateful for her supporting me with this hobby, and maintaining the family show team.
Be Black has been showing for many many years and has tried a little bit of other breeds, but has settled now with our odd selection of Pomeranians and Shiba Inu's. Be is the one who keeps the team running, ensuring each dog is trained, groomed and happy. Many hours each day are taken to ensure a good health and welfare of the dogs, and although this includes a lot of mucky duties and hard graft, she is rewarded with the love from each dog. There is no better feeling than a cuddle from a dog. Be also participates in the showing, where we both have always seen it as a day out, where we can forget about all of our other worries and instead enjoy the company of each other and our dogs.
Zaandam also has a professional dog grooming business, it is just a small business owned by Be Black, but it is another area of doggy care that she really enjoys. It is great to see the happiness a dog feels after a nice bath, groom and styling. More details can be found on the Zaandam Pooch Clip homepage.
